KITAIZUMI SURF FESTIVAL 2024
The KITAIZUMI SURF FESTIVAL 2024 will be held again this year from 3-6 Oct at Kitaizumi Beach in Minami Soma City, Fukushima Prefecture.

Top professional surfers from Japan and abroad will be invited to the event to showcase the traditions and attractions of surfing and Fukushima. Following last year, the event aims to develop Minami Soma City in Fukushima Prefecture and revitalise the local area.
64 male and 32 female top professional surfers from Japan are scheduled to participate in the competition.
This year’s event will also feature a bodyboard tour with 32 male and 32 female participants each.
A total of 160 riders will take part, more than double the number from last year.
In addition, surfing legends and former world champions from abroad will be specially invited to perform at the exhibition.
Various surf-related events and activities will be held at the venue, bringing participants and spectators together to enjoy surf culture. Live music events will be held and booths will be set up where visitors can experience and feel the traditions and attractions of Fukushima.
The Venue
The venue, Kitaizumi Coast in Minami Soma City, Fukushima Prefecture, is one of the best surf spots in Japan and is also known as the ‘holy land of surfing’. Adjacent to the Haramachi Thermal Power Plant, surfers from all over Japan come to this point because the breakwater provides constant breaks of good quality waves. After the earthquake, the radiation levels of the seawater have been measured on a daily basis, and after confirming the safety of the seawater, facilities around the beach have been set up, and showers and parking areas have already been fully opened to the public.
